Onamae Kabuto & Donguri Set

■Donguri Kabuto Series

2026 production is sold out.

A one-of-a-kind Boys' Day decoration, "Onamae Kabuto & Donguri Set," in which the helmet itself is shaped from a single kanji character representing your child's name or a wish for them. The set includes a Natural Donguri figure in a beautiful walnut-and-maple contrast, along with a display stand and a byōbu (folding screen).

－　Features　－

• The kabuto (helmet) itself is designed in the shape of a single kanji character representing your child's name or a wish you'd like to express for them — a one-of-a-kind, meaningful Boys' Day decoration.
• The kabuto fits securely onto the Natural Donguri figure with a cord, and comes off easily. Enjoy two expressions in one piece: the dignified look with the helmet on, and Donguri Korokoro's original, adorable face with it off.
• This item is crafted not as a toy but as a wooden decorative piece. The thin parts of the kanji decoration are delicate, so it is meant to be displayed and cherished (see the FAQ below for details).
• The paint and adhesives used meet Japanese and international safety standards and are safe even if licked.

Simply placing it on a display shelf in your entryway or living room adds the dignified atmosphere of Boys' Day. After you order, we will send you an image of the single-kanji decoration based on the name or wish you have chosen, and we begin production once you have reviewed it. Please note in advance that some characters may be difficult to craft as a kanji decoration.

A one-of-a-kind Boys' Day decoration that gives shape to your child's name. Perfect for celebrating Boys' Day, and also a gift sure to delight as a baby gift or a present for friends or people overseas. Every year when you display it, it's sure to bring back the feelings with which it was given.

－　Frequently Asked Questions　－

Q. What kind of kanji can I choose?
A. You may choose any single character you like, such as a kanji used in your child's name or one that represents a wish you'd like to express for them. Please enter your desired name in the "Name" field on the product page when ordering. We will then create and send you an image of the kanji decoration, and proceed to production once you have reviewed it. Please note in advance that, depending on the stroke count or shape of the character, it may be difficult to craft as a wooden decoration.

Q. Can it be played with as a toy?
A. This item is crafted not as a toy but as a wooden decorative piece, and it is delicately made. The thin parts of the kanji decoration are especially fragile, so please do not let children play with it while the helmet is on the Donguri figure. It is meant to be displayed and enjoyed. Because it includes small parts such as glass beads, please have an adult present to prevent accidental swallowing when placing it within reach of small children.

Q. Can the kabuto be removed?
A. Yes. The kabuto is fitted onto the Natural Donguri figure with a cord and can be removed. The byōbu forms a small slope, so you can also roll the Natural Donguri figure along it, but if the helmet is on, please have an adult move it along the slope.

Q. When is it sold?
A. Pre-orders usually open around December each year. Whether it will be produced every year is not decided, and it may become unavailable once sold out.

Q. Are the paint and adhesive safe?
A. We use a paint that is safe even if licked (Osmo Color Normal Clear); once dry, the coating complies with the German industrial standard DIN53160 (saliva and sweat resistance test), the European toy safety standard EN71-3, and Japan's Food Sanitation Act (toy standards). For adhesive, we also use the highly safe Titebond III (US FDA approved, ASTM D4236 compliant).

－　About Our Originals　－

The Onamae Kabuto & Donguri Set is a seasonal-festival decoration version born from Comomg's original character and original toy, "Donguri Korokoro." While we are grateful for its great popularity, we have also seen similar imitation products. For lasting peace of mind, please purchase genuine products from the official Comomg website or authorized retailers.

－　Development Story　－

Boys' Day (Tango no Sekku) is an important Japanese tradition that celebrates wishes for children's healthy growth. In recent years, however, the custom of displaying kabuto helmets and May dolls has gradually been fading. Wishing to pass this tradition on to the next generation, even in a different form, Comomg created a festival decoration that is truly Comomg: one that turns your child's name itself into the shape of a helmet.

The Onamae Kabuto gives shape to the name bestowed on your child as a single-kanji kabuto decoration. A name is irreplaceable — chosen by a family with wishes for their child. Through the Onamae Kabuto, we hope that when your child grows up, it becomes an opportunity for them to learn the meaning behind their name and the feelings of their family. Names of people from overseas can also be rendered in kanji and given shape. Even if you haven't decided on a specific kanji yet, Comomg will suggest a kanji that fits the image based on the name or story you share with us, so please feel free to consult us.
