Amabie Donguri

Currently out of stock. The next production run is undecided.
An "Amabie" version of Donguri Korokoro, the wooden toy with an acorn cap that walks charmingly down a slope — made as a charm to ward off epidemics.
– Features –
- Amabie is a yokai handed down in Japan since olden times. It is said to have foretold the spread of epidemics, and that drawing its likeness and showing it to people would ward off illness. With a wish to stand strong against the COVID-19 pandemic, Donguri Korokoro took on the form of Amabie.
- As it goes down the slope, the glass ball knocks against the wood and makes a pleasant "koto-koto" sound, and its slow, swaying, toddling descent is easy for little ones whose eyesight is still developing to follow with their eyes.
- Children's hand movements are still less developed than adults', and their hands can be slippery with sweat — but the acorn cap's ridge is shaped to be easy for small hands to grip firmly.
- The paint and glue used meet Japanese and international safety standards and are safe even if licked (see the FAQ below for details).
Tilt the base that Amabie Donguri sits on just slightly to make a slope, and it will sway from side to side as it charmingly makes its way down. It comes in two colors, pink and light blue, and includes a wooden tag reading "Ward Off Epidemics" and a mat, so you can display and enjoy it as soon as it arrives. The colorful Amabie livens up a room whether you let it play on a slope or simply display it.
It is also chosen as a unique gift for celebrating a recovery or as a seasonal present, carrying a wish to stand strong against the pandemic. We also recommend it as a gift to display by the entrance or a window, wishing for peace of mind every day.

– FAQ –
Q. What age is it suitable for?
A. The recommended age is 5 years and up. Because it includes small parts such as the wooden tag and mat, we use age 5 — when the risk of accidental swallowing becomes lower — as a guideline.
Q. What kind of sound does it make?
A. As it goes down the slope, the glass ball knocks against the wood, making a pleasant "koto-koto" wooden sound.
Q. Are the paint and glue safe?
A. The paint used (Osmo Color Garden Color) is safe even if licked, and once dry, the coating meets the German industrial standard DIN53160 (saliva/sweat resistance test), the EU toy safety standard EN71-3, and Japan's Food Sanitation Act (toy standard). The glue is also a highly safe product, Titebond III (FDA-approved in the US, ASTM D4236 compliant).
