■Donguri Hina-ningyo/basic set with name tag
Donguri Hina Doll is a wooden Hina doll set inspired by Donguri Korokoro, created to celebrate Japan’s traditional Hinamatsuri (Doll Festival).
Crafted from a variety of carefully selected woods, the natural colors and contrasting grains create a warm and beautiful harmony unique to wood. Rather than relying on paint, this Hina doll highlights the inherent character of each wood species, resulting in a timeless and gentle expression.
About Hinamatsuri (The Doll Festival)
In Japan, Hinamatsuri is a traditional celebration held on March 3rd to wish for the healthy growth and happiness of young girls.
It is customary to gift Hina dolls at the birth of a baby girl and to display them each year during the season.
This cherished tradition dates back to the Heian period over 1,000 years ago and has been passed down through generations as a way of expressing love, protection, and hopes for a child’s future.
Donguri Hina Doll was created with deep respect for this cultural heritage, combining Japanese tradition with the warmth of natural wood and contemporary craftsmanship.
Design & Play
The set includes the Emperor doll (Odairi-sama), the Empress doll (Ohina-sama), a display base, and a folding screen.
The folding screen is gently sloped, allowing both dolls to be placed and enjoyed like a small ramp. This design reflects the playful spirit of Donguri Korokoro, inviting gentle interaction as well as display.
Because the set includes small parts, we recommend that young children enjoy playing together with an adult.
Perfect not only for seasonal celebrations such as Hinamatsuri, but also as a thoughtful gift for newborns, friends, or loved ones overseas.
A meaningful wooden gift that carries the beauty of Japanese craftsmanship and tradition.
