Onamae Kabuto – One-Character Kanji Name (Kabuto Only Set) with Name Plate
Pickup currently unavailable
2026 production is sold out.
"Onamae Kabuto (Helmet Only) with Name Plate" delivers just the helmet, shaped from a single kanji character representing your child's name or a wish for them. In addition to the helmet, which you can enjoy on your Donguri Korokoro (sold separately), the set includes a Name Plate that can be engraved with your child's name and date of birth.
- Features -
- The kabuto (helmet) itself is designed in the shape of a single kanji character representing your child's name or a wish you'd like to express for them — a one-of-a-kind, meaningful Boys' Day decoration.
- The kabuto fits securely over your Donguri Korokoro (sold separately) with a cord, and comes off just as easily, so you can enjoy the kanji helmet look only when you display it.
- It comes with a Name Plate for a name, date of birth, and more, so you can give it as a one-of-a-kind keepsake for a new baby or a Boys' Day celebration.
- This item is crafted not as a toy but as a wooden decorative piece. The thin parts of the kanji decoration are delicate, so it is meant to be displayed and cherished (see the FAQ below for details).
- The paint and adhesives used meet Japanese and international safety standards and are safe even if licked.
Perfect for those who already own a Donguri Korokoro or want to add just the helmet. The base and byōbu (folding screen) are included, so you can enjoy the kanji helmet display from the day it arrives. If you'd like to get the Donguri Korokoro itself as well, we also offer a set. After you order and enter your desired name, we will create and send you an image of the kanji decoration, and we begin production once you have reviewed it.
A one-of-a-kind Boys' Day decoration that gives shape to your child's name. The Name Plate can also bear their name and date of birth, making it a gift to remember. Perfect for celebrating Boys' Day, and also a gift sure to delight as a baby gift or a present for friends or people overseas. Every year when you display it, it's sure to bring back the feelings with which it was given.

- Frequently Asked Questions -
Q. How do I choose the kanji for the helmet?
A. You may choose any single character you like, such as a kanji used in your child's name or one that represents a wish you'd like to express for them. When ordering, please enter your desired name in the "Name" field on the product page. We will then create and send you an image of the kanji decoration, and proceed to production once you have reviewed it. Please note in advance that, depending on the stroke count or shape of the character, it may be difficult to craft as a wooden decoration.
Q. What text can be engraved on the Name Plate?
A. We engrave your child's name, date of birth, or similar on the Name Plate. In the "Nameplate Text" field on the product page, please type the text you would like directly, starting a new line for each of positions ①, ② and ③. The font size is adjusted according to the number of characters. Please see the images below for details on engraving positions and fonts.
Q. Does it come with Donguri Korokoro?
A. This is a helmet-only set and does not include the Donguri Korokoro itself. It is intended for those who already own Donguri Korokoro or will purchase it separately. If you'd like to get the Donguri Korokoro itself as well, we also offer a set.
Q. Can it be played with as a toy?
A. This item is crafted not as a toy but as a wooden decorative piece, and it is delicately made. The thin parts of the kanji decoration are especially fragile, so please do not let children play with it while the helmet is on the Donguri. It is meant to be displayed and enjoyed. Since small parts are included, please have an adult present when placing it within reach of small children to prevent accidental swallowing.
Q. Can the kabuto be removed?
A. Yes. The kabuto is designed to fit over Donguri Korokoro with a cord and can be removed. As it is delicately made, please handle it gently and with care.
Q. When is it sold?
A. Pre-orders usually open around December each year. Production is not confirmed for every year, and it may become unavailable once sold out.
Q. Are the paint and adhesive safe?
A. The paint used (Osmo Color Normal Clear) is safe even if licked; once dry, the coating complies with the German industrial standard DIN53160 (saliva and sweat resistance test), the European toy safety standard EN71-3, and Japan's Food Sanitation Act (toy standards). The adhesive is Titebond III, also highly safe (US FDA approved, ASTM D4236 compliant).
