Uminy | Wooden Ship & Lighthouse Toy – Made in Japan with Sustainable Hinoki Cypress
Pre-orders 2025|Crafted from locally sourced Japanese wood
Uminy is a unique wooden toy inspired by ships and lighthouses, designed for endless repeat play. Place the cargo blocks into the lighthouse, then guide the ship from the back — when it sails forward, the blocks appear neatly loaded on deck. After unloading, return the blocks to the lighthouse and set sail again with a different color. Children naturally develop focus and rhythm while enjoying the repeating flow of play.
Uminy is fully compatible with the popular Tuminy series, so trucks and garages can be combined for even more imaginative play. Cargo delivered by truck can be shipped off to the next town by boat, or unloaded blocks can become new roads. Because the loading and unloading process differs from Tuminy trucks — the ship enters from the back of the lighthouse and exits forward — children experience varied hand movements and perspectives, fostering dexterity and creativity.
Made entirely in our own workshop in Japan, Uminy uses high-quality Hinoki cypress from Saitama Prefecture. The finish is Osmo Color, a natural paint that meets strict German safety standards, ensuring peace of mind for families. By using local wood, we not only support forest management and local communities but also reduce the environmental impact of long-distance transport, contributing to sustainable craftsmanship.
Uminy is more than a toy — it’s a way to learn, create, and play, while carrying the warmth of Japanese woodworking tradition. It also makes a wonderful gift for children and families worldwide.
