A wooden home where the Donguri Korokoro live

comomg's much-loved character that toddles down a slope. Now Donguri Korokoro has a dolls' house of its own.

A house characterised by soft curves and warm wood grain. The roof is pitched at the same angle as a slope, so you can move the donguri along it as you play. At just 20 cm deep it is slim enough to look charming on a desk or a bay window. We highly recommend it as an interior piece too!

Pretend play that nurtures a child's imagination

In pretend play with a dolls' house, the figures take on all sorts of roles and nurture a child's imagination. The House of Donguri can be enjoyed with any doll you like, but our recommendation is of course Donguri Korokoro!
Rather than only giving a child new figures when the age for pretend play arrives, we also encourage using the toys they have played with up to then. Donguri Korokoro comes into a child's life a little earlier than dolls'-house play, as a toy that can be enjoyed visually, and so becomes something they are deeply attached to.
What is more, with its simple, unaffected expression, Donguri Korokoro is a character onto which children readily project their feelings. The shape is simple too, so it can be family, or friends, or a class at kindergarten. Whatever a child imagines, it can play all kinds of different roles!

Dolls'-house play involves small parts such as furniture, and the recommended age is often set at 3 and over; but with a family member watching over them, it is perfect for the pretend play that begins at around age 2. As a second-birthday present, we think it will delight boys and girls alike.

Local wood, sustainable making

The House of Donguri is made from fine hinoki cypress grown in Saitama Prefecture. The grain and knots that only hinoki has, together with a soft form defined by curves. The roof is finished in a traditional Japanese vermilion, a colour chosen to sit well with the hinoki.

We make a point of using Japanese wood, and especially timber from the area close to us. Beyond nurturing richer forests and giving back to the local community, it also cuts the petroleum fuel used in transport. We will continue making toys as part of our work towards a sustainable society, and we hope to pass that on naturally to children through play.
