A set of cat-shaped building blocks, each carrying its own cargo. The cats may look tricky to stack, but they offer endless ways to play — from simple stacks even little ones can manage on their own, to intricate arrangements that adults will enjoy too.

The white cat is made of maple, the black cat of walnut, each showcasing the natural beauty of its wood grain. Alongside these natural-wood cats, the colorful cargo blocks add a charming playfulness on top of their visual beauty.

Q. What age is it suitable for?
A. It's recommended for ages 3 and up. Simple stacking arrangements can be enjoyed independently by little ones, while intricate arrangements can absorb adults too.

Q. Should I choose maple or walnut?
A. There's no functional difference between the materials — choose based on your preference for the white cat (maple) or the black cat (walnut). Both come as a set of 2 cats with 2 cargo pieces.

Q. Is the set 4 cats?
A. No, this product is a set of 2 cats and 2 cargo pieces. You'll choose either the white cat (maple) or the black cat (walnut) — it is not a set of 4 cats, so please note this when ordering.

Q. Is the paint and adhesive safe?
A. The paint used (Osmo Color) is safe even if licked. Once dry, the coating meets the German industrial standard DIN 53160 (saliva and sweat resistance test), the European toy safety standard EN71-3, and Japan's Food Sanitation Act (toy standards). The adhesive used, Titebond III, is also highly safe (FDA-approved in the US, compliant with ASTM D4236).

－ The Story Behind Its Design －

Neko Block didn't start out as an attempt to design a cat. The first idea was to create an unconventional building block based on a 4cm module. Through trial and error — drilling holes, cutting at right angles — it became clear that a 45-degree cut allowed for the widest variety of stacking arrangements.

The question then became: what design would fit that 45-degree cut perfectly? The answer turned out to be a cat. Since Japan has a well-known delivery service with a cat as its mascot, it was decided to have the cats carry square cargo blocks on their backs, completing the set.

It took a great deal of time to go from the core design concept to an actual finished product. Even once the precise 45-degree cut worked in prototypes, manufacturing it consistently at scale presented an entirely different kind of challenge. It required not only improving the precision of the machines and jigs, but also steadily refining the skills of the staff who make each piece.

Neko Block is also a toy that helped grow komomg's own development capabilities.
