Hello, everyone.
This is Takamatsu from the comomg staff.
February is almost over, isn't it?
It's gradually getting warmer, and I bet more of you are finding yourselves out for walks these days.
It's also pollen season, so masks are a must these days
Now, this time I'd like to talk about "Mokuiku" (wood education)!
Have you ever heard the word "Mokuiku"?
Actually, there are many different interpretations of the term "Mokuiku."
According to one of those interpretations,
"Mokuiku" refers to the idea that everyone, starting with children, should "connect with wood, learn from wood, and live alongside wood."
As a first step into "Mokuiku," let's take a look at the characteristics of wood!
Wood mainly has the following characteristics.
○ One of the natural materials familiar to us in everyday life
○ Pleasant to the touch, with a warm feel
○ Just the right amount of weight
○ Can be enjoyed through its scent, sound, and color
Wood with these characteristics
is processed into paper, tableware, furniture, toys, and more, becoming part of our everyday lives.
And it offers us all kinds of learning along the way.
Because children can experience the texture, scent, and sound of wood
it stimulates their five senses and helps them develop.
And wood, as a material, is something that was once alive.
By touching wood from an early age, children have the chance to think about
the importance of life and their connection to nature.
Wood also gives children a chance to learn about the environment.
By keeping wood close at hand from childhood,
children can nurture a rich heart that allows them to think for themselves about how people relate to trees and forests.
That covers "Mokuiku" for now —
next, let's introduce some comomg toys perfect for it!
First up is the "Bean Rattle."
This toy makes a sound as the wooden beads inside move around.
The gentle sound of wood against wood has a calming effect.
It also makes a wonderful baby shower gift.
Next up is the toy "Donguri Korokoro."
This is comomg's most popular product — you play by letting it roll, clackity-clack, down a little slope.
It has just the right weight for small hands to hold, and the sound of wood knocking together is delightfully cute.
At comomg, we make toys that let you feel the warmth, scent, and sound of wood 🌳
Wooden toys tend to have simple designs, which lets children play freely with their own imagination!
Why not bring a little wooden toy into your child's everyday play?
